Red Poppy Festival / Parade

Luke LOVED the parade - lots to see and hear!

I wasn't trying to be artistic with black & white photos... the nob on on my camera keeps getting bumped...

Class photo

I'm amazed they got all the kids to stay in one spot long enough to take the picture! Too bad Luke wasn't smiling, but pretty cute anyway!

In fact, I'm surprised he wasn't picking his nose. Luke has developed a few gross habits recently: picking his nose, using his toothbrush to clean the floor, using MY toothbrush, gleefully pointing out dog poo in the yard, drinking bath water, just to name a few. ;)

Mine!

Luke wanted to play with something and I said "no, that's daddy's", so he grabbed his nearest toy and emphatically said "Mine!". So now everything is "mine mine mine".

We went to Aunt Sissy's Hospice fundraiser today and had a BLAST. Luke was positively addicted to riding the train - probably rode 4 or 5 times.

Jenny and Will...
Grandma E (I don't know why this one is in black and white??)...
Cousin Savannah loves playing with Luke - they did the bouncy slide together and rode the train and the horse-drawn wagon....

Luke quickly figured out how to buckle and unbuckle himself...
Allllllll the way home and alllllll evening long, Luke kept saying "choo choo went away" over and over again. He sure did like that train.

Happy face / sad face

Grandma E taught Luke to do a "happy face" or a "sad face" on command. Here's a video, although you have to look quick to see the happy face:

Three times now, Luke has told me he had to use the potty, then held it until he got to the bathroom!! And they say he is doing well at school. They initially said kids take anywhere from 2 weeks to 4 months to master toileting - I think we're going the 4 month route, but he's definitely getting there.

Luke and I took Jenny, Will, and Stella to his school last Saturday for their annual art, music, and science festival. Will danced up a storm! He was quite the center of attention and loving it! Luke showed him his favorite slide on the playground. And they both got to climb into a firetruck and check it out. Luke was alllll over that firetruck - the firemen got a big kick out of his enthusiasm. He even tried to let himself out the opposite door and they had to run around and stop him from falling out.

Counting

Video of Luke counting:

Luke's birthday theme this year will be barnyard animals, and he will be dressing the part of the cutest little buckaroo in the west:

I have been giving Luke a sticker every time he goes to the potty, but he got a hold of my entire stash of stickers:

Picnic

Steve and I had a little getaway to New Orleans this weekend (he had a court hearing there and I got to tag along). Grammy took good care of Luke for us. They went to Aunt Jane's birthday picnic on Sunday, where everyone took turns chasing after Luke (now they know why I don't need to own exercise equipment!). Here he is eating ice cream with Grandma and Poppie and Cousin Josh:

He was pretty happy to see us come home. We sure missed the little guy!
