Us
I haven't been writing a lot on these blogs, so thought I'd do a bit tonight....
Our daily routine:
MeMa picks Luke up in the morning and takes him to school (and makes his lunch - I'm spoiled rotten!). She regularly stops by the goat farm on the way and they feed the goats. And towards the end of the week, he needs a little more incentive to go to school, so Thursday morning is smoothie day, and Friday is donuts and chocolate milk and Kolache day. Fun! :)
MeMa, GiGi, or I pick Luke up from school each day. Tuesday is soccer day - he does Soccer Shots at school and LOVES it! He was very proud to bring home a report from his coach that says he is listening, following directions, having fun, and a great shooter! He asked for a soccer net for Christmas. Wednesday evening he spends with GiGi while I go to RCIA (Catholic school). Thursday after school is music class. And Friday evening he spends with MeMa while I have my "free time" (usually running errands or Mexican food with my girlfriends).
School:
He is learning the names and how to draw and cut out geometric shapes. He does sandpaper letters and is learning the sounds the letters make. He is tracing the numbers and has written several of them freehand and is trying very hard to write his name (he writes the letters, but not in order or in line). He recently tried his hand at drawing the parts of a ladybug. He loves to cut out and draw jack-o-lanterns. And here is his drawing of a "rocketship car":

He is also quite the collector - during the summer he inspired all the children to bring their bug catchers to school and collect bugs. We now have an assortment of about 5 different bug catchers (we discovered that the ones with the swing doors sometimes don't keep in the bugs and we needed ones with screw tops!). And we have some really nice specimens of dragonflys, june bugs, crickets, doodlebugs, grasshoppers, and one HUGE cockroach (yes, thank you Poppie). For the most part, he is good about letting the live bugs go at the end of the day. He is especially fond of ladybugs, which is good because that's one I'm willing to catch.
He now collects interesting rocks and leaves from school. I save the VERY special ones and the rest go into a bag that will eventually be returned to the school playground (it's quite full).
Home:
He loves to play with his cars - he puts them in loooooong lines that stretch across the room. He likes to build with legos and blocks, do artwork, walk down to the park, ride his many vehicles around the neighborhood, etc. On Saturdays, he always makes pancakes - blueberry is his favorite.
We have also discovered he has an amazing natural talent for baseball. Earlier this year we got him a t-ball set which he loved. Then GiGi got another type of t-ball where the ball hangs down and reloads itself - also a big hit. But most amazingly, we can underhand pitch him a ball and he can hit it quite often! He'll sometimes even throw the ball up in the air himself and swing and hit it. He seems to switch hit left and right equally well, although he's most definitely right-handed.
Tonight Luke decorated a card for Poppie's birthday. I asked him what we should do with it and he gave me this answer:
