Little Jack Horner

Luke's school had a Kindergarten Nursery Rhyme parade this morning - he was Little Jack Horner (sat in corner eating Christmas pie... pulled out a plum...).

His teacher was Little Miss Muffet (love the kid in front picking his nose!):

First day of kindergarten!!

Luke was so excited about his new classroom at the open house last week - it has a guinea pig, hermit crabs, fish, a covered wagon, and lots of fun things.

This morning he started early with crying and saying he didn't want to go to school. When he realized it wasn't going to work, he just turned it off and picked up his stuff and headed out.

He was so excited to wear his new shark helmet and ride his bike to school...

And although we have about 5 lunch boxes, he insisted on getting a new Spiderman lunch box since he wasn't allowed to have cartoons on his things at his old school...

He was NOT going to smile for mean mommy who makes him go to school...

Happy 4th of July!

Went to a baseball game on the 3rd in hopes of seeing fireworks, but they were cancelled due to the burn ban. But discovered that Luke LOVES going to baseball games. He was so anxious to try to catch a foul ball. He loved when the crowd cheered. He really got into it although he doesn't grasp a whole lot of what's going on. He cheered for the "black team" when they were winning, but switched over to the "red team" when they started winning. So cute.

Went to a festival on the 4th and did the petting zoo and inflatable slide, but was way way way too hot, so went home and enjoyed the air conditioning the rest of the day.

5 Years Old!!!

We were planning a cookout at the lake, but the weather didn't cooperate - during the hour before we were supposed to start, the temperatures dropped 20 degrees and the wind was horrible. But the family came together and moved the party back to my house in a matter of minutes. Whew!!

Luke requested a wolf theme, so GiGi made an incredible wolf cake. But we had no luck finding coordinating decor, so Luke picked out SpongeBob tableware and a Buzz Lightyear pinata. Quite eclectic!!

We grilled hot dogs, made s'mores in the chiminea, played on the playscape, played air hockey, had a pinata, opened presents, and ended with a water gun fight. A fun time was had by all!!

Random

Last night I asked Luke if he was still going to marry Abby and he said YES. I asked if Abby was still going to marry him and he said "No, she says she's going to marry Keiton. That's a BIG problem!". BWAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAH.

Luke and Hunter

Hunter and his mommy moved in with me and Luke two months ago. The action has picked up around here quite a bit to say the least! We like to call them Floyd and Lloyd (Dumb and Dumber) or Luke and Bo Duke.

Valentine

Luke’s “engagement” to Abby has remained in place for months now. Weeks before Valentine’s Day, he started bugging me to setup a playdate with her for Valentine’s Day. And he started collecting treasures in a red gift bag for her – some artwork he made, a heart bracelet, a handmade card. He also wanted to make her cookies, which we did. The crazy thing is that I have not encouraged him in any way – it has all been his ideas!! SO stinking cute….

Elf

Luke and Poppie made a trailer for his car so he can tow things around - he loves to build things, so I think he's going to love the workbench and tools he's getting for Christmas:

Pretty cute elf:

Busy Weekend

Luke has been bugging me to go see dinosaur bones. He really wanted to dig some up, but since I couldn't swing that, we went to the Texas Memorial Museum:

Also went to see Megamind - his 3D glasses make him look like Buddy Holly:

And the main event of the weekend was the Lakeway boat parade - got to hang out on a really cool boat and watch a boat parade of other boats all lit up with Christmas lights (kind of like the Disney electric parade).

And the Georgetown Christmas Stroll and parade:

Cuteness

Luke was admiring my necklace when he exclaimed "it's a Jesus cross!! .... but in cursive!!"

Luke loves to gather acorns and we talk about how amazing it is that you can plan one and it turns into a huge tree. He said he dreamed last night that he planted a snow seed and it grew into a snow man.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Lovely Thanksgiving with the family and friends - this is Luke's friend Alex from school....

School pics

I cracked up when I saw these. Luke was soooooo tired on school picture day and I just knew he wouldn't be cooperative. Ugh. Oh well. What can ya do? Looks like the photographer did try his best - four different locations is about as good an effort as anyone could give...
